Summaries
Add a SummaryThis book follows the story of John, one of nine aliens with powers from the planet of Lorien. The opposing alien race - Mogadorians - have ruined Lorien, and the only remaiders of the race have fled to Earth. The Mogadorians have ruined their home planet as well, as they did not deal appropriately with issues associated with the growth of their civilization, a problem Earth struggles with today. The Lorien aliens can only be killed in order, and the book begins with the death of Number Three.
John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is from the planet Lorien. He was sent to Earth as a child with eight others to escape the invading Mogadorians, who had destroyed their own home planet. He is protected by a Warrior/Guardian, Henri (Timothy Olyphant), and has developed extraterrestrial "legacies", including enhanced strength, speed and agility, telekinesis and the power to transmit plasma light through his hands.

Number Four and Henri are Lorics and have been living on the run from the Mogadorians for a decade. When they move into the small town of Paradise, Ohio, things start to happen. Number Four ("John") falls in love with a girl named Sarah (who, by the way, is a human), he starts developing his Legacies, and the Mogadorians are locking in on him. Number 1, 2, and 3 are all dead, killed by the Mogadorians - and Number 4 is next.

We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books--but we are real. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived amoung you without you knowing. But they know. They caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. They killed them all. I am number Four. I am next.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: 2 people get killed in the first 4 pages. What do you expect? It also contains a good amount of cursing (Nothing to make you not read the book) And some sexual relations between John and Sarah.

Violence: Crazy weapons that don't even exist.
Violence: they are being hunted down one by one by aliens who have crazy weapons, two people get killed in the first 4 pages I mean duh there's violence

Add a Commentamazing book :=) has a really cool plot. The next two books are almost as good as this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But John is such a wimp!! in the next book you find out 6 is stronger that him WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! This is my favourite book series EVER (if you like fantasy, which is my fave genre)
Refreshing and told in a way where all parties are respected. A fun read and an interesting series. Look forward to more.

this book was very exciting. it had a suspenseful story line that had me staying up through the night to finish it. I was prompted to read it after i watched the movie, but the book had more detail and plot twists than the movie. Definitely worth the read if you like sci-fi
