Walk into any classroom in Sidney Ledson's school and you will see and hear kids as g as three years old happily reading from their picture books. Ledson, a world-renowned expert in the teaching of reading, is a controversial champion of phonics, the key to his teaching methods. In this book he demonstrates the intellectual reach that ordinary children can achieve when they receive extraordinarily rich early education -- and shows you, as parents, how to achieve the same amazing results.

In just ten minutes a day you can teach your preschooler to read while also stimulating his or her intellectual growth. The program also permits parents of older children to accelerate their reading process or remedy faulty reading, and provides instruction for illiterate and non-English-speaking adults.

I really like this book. I have taught my 6 year old to read using this method and my 3 year old is reading simple words and sentences like "Pat the dog" and can read words like "string" and so on, which I find impressive for a 3 year old.

Good for parents, seems a bit complicated.
