White Fang was written as the companion book to Jack London's classic 1903 runaway bestseller The Call of the Wild. Seen through the eyes of White Fang -- who is half dog, half wolf -- the story follows the creature as he is forced to endure a series of harsh environments that turn him from his youthful innocence to mad-dog cruelty. That is, until a young man comes along and offers kindness and friendship. But friendship is something that White Fang doesn't understand...yet.

White Fang is more than great storytelling. It is a careful study of the effects of our environments in forming who we are. With fascinating details of the Klondike gold rush and North American Indian life, it is also a remarkable snapshot of its time. With striking illustrations and extended captions unique to the Whole Story, this edition provides background information modern readers could otherwise access only through a broad range of supplemental research. This distinctive approach places White Fang -- first published in 1906 -- within the context of its era, bringing it vividly to life.

Read out loud to my husband on our road trip up the Alaska highway and to Dawson, where Jack London gained much of his inspiration, this book is a much deserved classic that even made my husband shed a tear or ten.

An awesome book that lets you see what is going on inside a wolf's life. This book has breath taking adventures and a inique plot. I couldn't stop reading this book, and I was sad to see the pages end right before my nose. I defenately recommend this book to anyone who loves animals, especially wolfs. If you are looking for a book to read, this is the one!

This is a great book. I read it 2 times and intend to read it again. It's very touching, and even though it's about an animal it is thrilling. I preferred the style Jack London used in this book, over his style in "Call of the Wild".

One of his best full lengths book. Check out "To Build a Fire"; great short story, as are all of his shorts.

Jack London is one of my favourite classical authors. He puts his own experiences during the Northern Gold Rush into his writing and he is able to make the reader experience that cold winter feeling. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a nice classical read.
