Spy School

Spy School, by Stuart Gibbs, follows the story of a teenager named Ben Ripely who is recruited to the CIA’s secret academy for spies in training. At the academy, Ben is attacked by an assassin who claims ben invented a codebreaker called Pinwheel. The assassin threatens to kill Ben if they do not get information about Pinwheel which according to the assassin but Ben never created any codebreaker. After this attack, Ben with the help of Erica Hale, the CIA’s best agent in training, uncovers that in his file it is stated that he created Pinwheel. With Erica’s help, Ben learns that he was brought in as bait to catch a mole in the academy. Ben and Erica add another statement to Ben’s file stating that he created a new codebreaker called Jackhammer which is supposed to be the ultimate codebreaker to try to lure out the mole in the CIA’s academy. As the story progresses, Ben tries to find who the mole is and who the mole is working for. This book was amazing since it had action, humor, and many twists and turns. I would recommend this book for both middle schoolers and high schoolers but mainly middle schoolers.

This is a great book for kids of all ages very funny and interesting.

Similar to Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls series, the school also happens to be a cover for the CIA’s junior training facility. But there’s a catch: Ben has been brought in as bait. The CIA wants to flush out the mole that has infiltrated the school. Now, he needs to prepare himself for danger. Someone’s out for him, and he doesn’t know who. With just the help of a few friends, he needs to survive the attempts being made on his life. Anyone and everyone can be a suspect, including the staff and students. On top of keeping himself alive, he has to figure out the bad guy’s scheme. Will he succeed?

In this enthralling story of thwarting evil organizations, readers will be enraptured by shocking revelations, such as “My family’s had the keys since it was built, seeing as it [the Washington Monument] was such an important part of the city’s defense system.” The plotlines and structures of the story were also very well developed. There are twists just when we believe the mystery is solved. Ben’s emotions and thoughts are heartfelt, and the humor of him trying to turn into a super-spy is delightful. I recommend this book for anyone who loves a good mystery and adventure. The reader will remember this book for a long time to come.

This is a super fun, exciting and entertaining book. Awkward, nerdy Ben is shocked when he is recruited by the CIA to join a super secret kids spy school. Was his recruitment a mistake? The book is full of plot twists and turns. There's lots of action and several interesting characters. Ben is a likeable protagonist. The book is the first in a series, so there are many more to read. The book is very engaging and is a good page-turner and could be an excellent choice for both reluctant readers and keen readers alike. Best of all, the book is very funny. I found it hugely enjoyable. Highly recommended.

First in series, recommended by William Dosch age 9. Very entertaining!

This book is great!
Spy school is the first book to an 8th part series. It has plot twists and turns. All I'm trying to say is that you will love reading it!
