First this is a classic // Indie film \\, but unlike too many I have viewed, which attempted to say something profound on the emotional level, and failing, this is really a remarkable movie - - again, aimed strictly at the emotional level.
As one who grew up in a religious orphanage, I greatly appreciated this film's theme of child abandonment, although in my own case my family died in an accident, so I could secretly console myself when I witnessed one or both parents arriving at the orphanage, over the years, to abandon their child or children there - - a most heartbreaking scene!
Not a movie for everyone, but definitely an amazing achievement by director/writer, So Yong Kim.

Talk about "tough love " at an early age. Sharp contrast to sanitized Korean soaps, and emotionally more satisfying. While seen from the child's view, the film generously does not make the irresponsible and selfish adults fully guilty or bad as they too have their brief moments of compassion.

Lovely, quiet, ultra-unsentimental little film consisting primarily of nearly claustrophobic close-ups of two kids cast adrift by their mom. Scenes are interlaced with static, establishing nature shots in the manner of Yasujirō Ozu.
