This was the first book I've read by author, Ellen Sussman. I totally enjoyed this and it was a wonderful summer read. Josie, Riley and Jeremy are in Paris and each have a tutor so they can practice their French. The experiences of each couple are so well done. I read this in a day or so--really I couldn't put it down. Well-drawn characters and sophisticated without being distant. Can't wait for my next read by this author!

French tutors are needed to teach the expats their language and their context while in Paris, but it is more than it seems. You meet the tutors and their internal struggles and then you meet their students with their challenges. Will the tutors be able to teach them what they have or what they are missing in their lives. Lovely descriptions of Paris landmarks/landscapes.

I loved this book. I travelled to Paris in November of 2012 and this book help me relive my memories of the beautiful city again! Easy read.

I love a good story set in Paris, and anything with a fair amount of the French language. This would have benefited from more, as well as a bit of gravitas. It was entertaining, but not moving.

"Escape to Paris for one day in "French Lessons" by Ellen Sussman and follow the stories of three American tourists, each paying a pricey French tutor for a one-on-one immersion into the culture, language and food of the city. The intoxicating backdrop of Paris makes this novel immensely satisfying. Read it and then go see Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris." Or go to Paris."
