A "kindred spirit" of readers around the world

At sixteen, Anne is both exhilarated and slightly terrified to be teaching at the Avonlea schoolhouse. But she's determined to win the heart of every student--especially troublemaker Anthony Pye. After all, she still knows a thing or two about troublemaking herself...

With rambunctious six-year-old twins staying at Green Gables, a village "improvement" project that goes disastrously wrong, and her college entrance exams to study for, Anne will more than have her hands full. At least her best friend Diana and tormentor-turned-ally, the dashing Gilbert Blythe, will be there to help see her through.

Inspiring the dreamer in all of us, Anne is hailed as a favorite by everyone from Mark Twain to Duchess Kate.

This new edition lovingly restores the original, unabridged text and includes an all-new, exclusive introduction with special memories from L.M. Montgomery's granddaughter.

This is a wonderful continuation of Anne of Green Gables and I really enjoyed. It shows Anne's life after Queens and while she teaches as Avonlea and how she and Marilla handle Davy. I really enjoyed this book. I recommend reading it.

This is a continuation of Anne's story with all the clever and humorous dialogue that is found in the first book. The characters in this series are some of the best I have ever met.

We all love and know the young, red haired, high spirited and talkative orphan of Green Gables, Anne Shirley (Spelled with an e!). I for one was deeply saddened at the last pages of the first book to see my favourite crew of characters go, but happily found Anne of Avonlea and the other books of the series. I really like this book and I have to say Montgomery is a great author but I mostly lost interest. The main reason I loved the first book was for Anne, but she is rather grown up now and doesn’t talk a lot. There is a nice plotline however, and we see Gilbert and the young members of Avonlea now. Very nicely written! Rating 4/5

Anne grows up and Marilla adopts twins, Davy and Dora. Dora is a very nice girl, but Davy is quite a handful. there are also engagements and a marriage of Miss. Lavender to Mr. Irving. Review by Avonlea Gallant.

I didn't like it as much as the firt book, but it's still really interesting. If you've read the first one, definitely read this one as well. I find these books really hilarious.

I was skeptical about reading it, but wow, it was great. The characters are all so lovable that it makes you hard to put the book down.

I have read anne of avonlea at least 5 times, and loved it more and more each time! however, I did not read this particular copy, and was just looking to see if this copy is abridged (I hope not!) before I add it to a reading list.

Sixteen-year-old Anne Shirley is still getting into scrapes. She and Marilla, still mourning after Matthew's death, are suddenly given two twins, Davy and Dora, to raise after their mother dies. Anne and her friends are "improving" Avonlea with the A.V.I.S (Avonlea Village Improvers Society). Anne meets many interesting individuals, such as Mr. Harrison and Miss Lavender. This book is even better than the first!

The page of girlhood had been turned, as by an unseen finger, and the page of womanhood was before her with all its charm and mystery, its pain and gladness.
