Add a CommentOkay, I will be honest. I do not do stories about rodents! They creep me out. But I read this story anyway and tried to pretend the illustrations were not lifelike renditions of mice.
In this story Bubble and Squeak (excellently named after the British dish--also called Bubble and Squeak) are preparing for a trip to Grandma's for Christmas. They are concerned that Santa will not be able to find them. They come up with ideas for how to let Santa know where they will be. Mother mouse suggests they write a letter. Then they realize they didn't tell Santa where Grandma lives. Father mouse suggests they draw a map and leave it at their house. They finally make the trip to Grandma's and realize there is no chimney. But Grandma has saved the day by building a fun contraption that will lead Santa to their door.
Even though the pictures were of mice:-) they were cute and very colorful. All who enjoy rodents will like them very much. The story is lighthearted fun. The little ones have very large imaginations which I always like to see in stories. I especially like when Squeak thanks Bubble for helping make sure Santa finds his way to them. Excellent example of sibling kindness!
