An unexpected surprise- a romantic, evocative score that stands out beautifully on its own, particularly if, like me, you've never seen the series. Richly filled with music that feels at home in the highlands, the score succeeds wildly.
Beautiful Scottish music that takes you back to the enjoyment of the Outlander series.
There is much in this soundtrack--for many listeners to find and experience. Outlander takes me to heights and depths of emotion, and to feelings leavened by imagined and lived experiences. I love this music; it takes me home, helps me find my way. The final track (13) is "The veil of time." How fitting, and how well this music lifts the veil--so we may learn how caught in time we sometimes feel.
Bear McCreary has crafted one of the most incredible and evocative contemporary television scores of the past decade. Outlander is enchanting and will immediately transport you back to 18th century Scotland. With lush strings, booming percussion, and otherworldly singing, many of the tracks are goosebump inducing. My favorite track hands down is "Dance of the Druids," a piece which mentally conjures images of lights spinning around as the druids dance through the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun. If you haven't given this a listen yet, then this is a soundtrack you will not want to miss.
