As Perez investigates, he finds himself mired in the hidden secrets of the small Biddista community. Then another body is found.Perez knows he must break the cycle before another death occurs. But this is a crazy time of year when night blurs into day and nothing is quite as it seems . . .PRAISE FOR WHITE NIGHTS"Taut, atmospheric ... will keep readers guessing until the last page." I always enjoy Ann Cleeves' series - Vera Stanhope and Jimmy Perez - in books and on DVD's. This was not my favorite of the mysteries, but it was still a "good read". Highly recommend both series. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Compared to the first novel in the series, this one seemed to drag on, like the "always lit" summer days in the Shetlands. It seems that the islands are a rather dull, but lethal, place to live or visit. Hopefully, the next novel will be better. It would be handy to have a lexicon of Shetland/Scottish slang available; I found myself having to guess/infer the meaning of expressions and think back to the first book (read months ago) about the meaning of various terms/places/events.

The second Shetland novel. Beautiful, but very sad.

Evocative setting. The past, no matter how well hidden, Will eventually catch up.

You'd not want to read this one without reading the first in the series. The Shetlands make an interesting setting.

The second installment in this entertaining mystery series set in the Shetland Islands. The exotic locale, with its quirky customs and dialect, is a bonus; but aside from that, the writing is solid and compelling.
