As a movie location scout, picture-perfect is the name of the game. But her last project literally went up in flames, and her career is on the verge of flaming out. Greer has been given one more chance, if she can find the perfect undiscovered beach hideaway for a big-budget movie. She zeroes in on a sleepy Florida panhandle town called Cypress Key. There's one motel, a marina, a long stretch of pristine beach and an old fishing pier with a community casino-which will be perfect for the film's explosive climax. There's just one problem. Eben Thibadeaux, the town mayor, completely objects to Greer's plan. A lifelong resident of Cypress Key, Eben wants the town to be revitalized, not commercialized. After a toxic paper plant closed, the bay has only recently been reborn, and Eb has no intention of letting anybody screw with his town again. But Greer has a way of making things happen, regardless of obstacles. And Greer and Eb are way too attracted to each other for either of them to see reason.

I loved this novel; it tells the story of a location manager filming a movie at a small community in Florida. Simultaneously, as life sometimes imitates art, our neighbours across our very quiet street rented their house to a movie crew producing (in their words) a low budget network TV movie (Precious Things). So while I am reading about the movie making business, they are filming one in my front yard. There is one scene where a very unhappy neighbour makes his feelings known and I burst out laughing because I knew exactly how he felt. I should have done what he did and I won't spoil it by revealing it here.

ho hum. Pulp fiction. I agree -- a good one for the beach. Keeps you amused but nothing to take away.

It was a bit predictable and the end was a bit rushed. Otherwise it was a fun relaxing book. A good one for the beach.

The set-up for this book seemed to have the potential for some really funny scenes, but the one-dimensional characters and predictable plotting were a big disappointment. I don't know why I even finished this book!

Great novel about making a movie in a small beach town in Florida. Unusual characters and plot development.

She always has a winner. The story line is about women who find themselves even while tackling the stresses of life. A great read!!!!!
