A great read for 2020 and 2021! If ever you needed to be entertained by stuff around the house, now is the time. Usual toys boring? Well, if you happen to have a big cardboard box at home, you have a new toy times a thousand to start having creative fun by yourself or whoever you live with. This book is written in an easy, rhyming cadence that invites you to take in the illustrations and gives you ideas of how you can make your imagination take you anywhere. Your box could be a space shuttle, the walls of the box could be a jungle you colored yourself, and untold more possiblilities! This book is probably written with preshoolers in mind, but toddlers and elementary school aged kids would get some ideas too. It might also be nice for grown ups to read with their little ones so that they might be poised to suggest a post read activity with one of the assorted boxes that is invariably in everybody’s home right now.

You've got a box. What can you do? With the help of your imagination, anything.

No child will need this as an instruction manual, but every child will see themselves in this book. Yolen is a treasure. She truly understands children and how to tell a story. The illustrations are beautiful.

A great book to inspire imagination playing with a box, not that a child would need the inspiration but fun non-the-less!

Have a box? Any size will do! Use your imagination with a friend or all alone. How many stories can you tell when creating a sailboat, a race car, a beach or even a palace?

"Think outside the box" and let your imagination run wild about all the things that you can do with a box. Great companion book to "Not a Box" & "Not a Stick" both by Antoinette Portis. Ages 3-6
