Find Her
A Novel
Book - 2016
Seven years ago, carefree college student Flora was kidnapped while on spring break. For 472 days, Flora learned just how much one person can endure. Miraculously alive after her ordeal, Flora has spent the past five years reacquainting herself with the rhythms of normal life, working with her FBI victim advocate, Samuel Keynes. She has a mother who's never stopped loving her, a brother who is scared of the person she's become, and a bedroom wall covered with photos of other girls who've never made it home. When Boston detective D. D. Warren is called to the scene of a crime--a dead man and the bound, naked woman who killed him--she learns that Flora has tangled with three other suspects since her return to society. Is Flora a victim or a vigilante?

Add a CommentLoved it to the last page. Differently a fan of Lisa Gardner, this is the second book of hers I have read and passed it along.
Took me a bit to get into ; probably the first 5-7 chapters , but once I was hooked , I was hooked . Definitely a good read and one I would recommend to anyone who loves a mystery that kind of gives you a sense of uneasy . Well done , Lisa !
Hooked from page 1. I couldn't put it down. First book I have read by Lisa Gardner but won't be my last. Terrific read!
Dark, dark story. Did not like it at all.
For anyone who has been a victim, male, female, young, old, this is a must read. There is a huge difference between being a victim and being a survivor: you do not get to chose whether or not you become a victim, but you can decide not to stay one. Few of us become like Flor, but we can all be survivors.
Deeply disturbing. Inspired by the author learning about the need for victims' advocates, this book tells the story of a survivor of an utterly horrendous kidnapping who is kidnapped again five years later. The second kidnapping is the mystery the detective is trying to solve; the first kidnapping was resolved from a law enforcement perspective - but certainly not from an effect-on-the-survivor perspective. You get enough detail to understand how horrible the crimes are - but the worst is left to the reader's imagination.
This book has all the twists and turns and connections I'm coming to expect from Ms. Gardner. Unlike some other authors, they feel earned. She leaves enough crumbs that they make sense when they happen but keeps enough in reserve that you don't always see them coming. She is quickly becoming one of my favourite mystery authors.
All that said, if you are triggered by violence against women, this book is not for you.
First book I've read by this author and I am hooked!
She captures the reader from page one to the final page.
Very good book. Lots of action , keeping one's attention to the end.
This book had lots of action and kept you wanting to read to find out what happens.
Read this book in one day - it really kept me guessing until the end! Would love recommendations on which other Detective D. D Warren books are of this calibre.
