This book is a wonderful conclusion to the entire ‘Heirs of Watson Island’ trilogy. The ideas that were introduced in ‘Compulsion’ and expanded upon in ‘Persuasion’ are wrapped up neatly in ‘Illusion.’

My only problem with this book is honestly how perfect the ending is. Everything seems too good to be true for the characters, even though things are bittersweet in some ways. That’s the only reason this book did not get a perfect score.

With wonderful characters that learn and grow as the story progresses, it is told in Martina Boone’s casual, yet detailed voice that encapsulates the youth of the main characters and the years that are tied in with the older characters, both the ones we meet directly and those we meet indirectly. This is a recommended read for those who enjoyed the first two books and want to have the mystery of the yunwi and the Fire Carrier and the magic that binds everything.
