On the shores of a tranquil fjord in Northern Iceland, a man is brutally beaten to death on a bright summer's night. As the 24-hour light of the arctic summer is transformed into darkness by an ash cloud from a recent volcanic eruption, a young reporter leaves Reykajvik to investigate on her own, unaware that an innocent person's life hangs in the balance.

This is the first novel of his that I've read and I will say that I enjoyed it except for all the confusing foreign (to me) sames and places.

Third book in series. this one was a disappointment. I felt his style seemed to have changed perhaps because of having gained some fame in north american market? The first half contained endless reference to his love life. The second half did improve though there are so many angles that they themselves could have been used as subjects for his future books.
