SummaryAdd a Summary
THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS (Bantam Books, $1.50) is Paul Zindel's 1970 classic - and award-winning - play about toxic environments. On one side, we have young Tillie's science experiment which examines the effects of radiation on marigold's. On the other, we have the Hunsdorfers in all their glorious dysfunction, suffering a toxic environment of their own making. The one ray of hope Zindel offers us for the Hunsdorfers: some of the marigolds, despite being exposed to radiation, are thriving. Perhaps one day the family will too.
