Slow-paced but beautiful in a profound way. The cinematography was amazing and the storyline was poignant.

Slow pace movie about growing up in a small Australian community. If it was not for the surfing scenery the movie to me would be a flop. Would rather watch the Outsiders (1983) about coming of age movies.

One of my favourite writers… Tim Winton. Slowly paced, beautiful movie. Winton is at his best describing the small moments that truly make our lives.

Did NOT take my Breath away..... As a matter of fact, we eventually fast forwarded it to get it over with....thinking that just maybe at some point it would have decent scenery of western Australia. In general we like movies set there.
The surfing was not even noteworthy or up to the standards of films set in southern California and Hawaii during the 1970;s and 80's.
I can't even rate it as there is no minus scale.

We checked this one out mainly because we saw nothing else we were interested in and fully knowing it was an indie/film festival kind of thing. As it turned out, it was exactly what I think those kind will be like. By that, I mean that at the end we kind of went, "Huh?". I have no idea what it was about. Surfing? Growing up? Decisions? Not sure really. It does have some really nice ocean scenery and surfing moments. If there is a Breath 2, I most likely will not watch it.

Exactly what preteens want to watch--and completely inappropriate for teens at all. The kind of movie wherein someone re-imagines his youth as much more thrilling than it was with his sex fantasies becoming reality. Lots of cussing, sex with older married woman (we call that child sexual abuse in the US), and several scenes of smoking pot. Cinematography was awesome, though.

This movie was worth watching for the breathtaking cinematography alone. Viewing the beautiful scenery of the South coast of Western Australia along the way was an added bonus too. Accolades to Marden Dean, the cinematographer for Breath & Rick Rifici who was brought in to capture the incredible surfing scenes. However, parts of the story line did not sit comfortably with me, leading me to give movie a lower rating than I would have given it otherwise.

A brilliant adaptation of Tim Winton's novel of the same name. Pikelet and Loonie learn to surf along the wild Western Australian coast after encountering the enigmatic Sando.
