Rebecca didn't know love was possible until she met Paul, a successful, charismatic, married man with a past as dark as her own. Their pain drew them together with an irresistible magnetism; they sensed that they were each other's ideal (and perhaps only) match. But twenty years later, Paul and Rebecca are drowning as the damage and secrets that ignited their love begin to consume their marriage. Paul is cheating on Rebecca, and his affair gets messy fast. His mistress is stalking them with growing audacity when Rebecca discovers Paul's elaborate plan to build a new life without her. And though Rebecca is spiraling into an opiate addiction, it doesn't stop her from coming up with a devious plot of her own, and this one could end absolutely everything.

These are the most unlikable characters I've come across in a while, and the book is disjointed and confusing. One of the worst Thrillers I've come across and I read voraciously! I actually could have cared less if everyone in the whole book just died- they were despicable people.
Save yourself some time and read something else.

Drug addicted wife, husband of questionable actions, a few murders, and unsuspected female
combine to present a lively and swiftly moving novel of deceit and murder. The novel wrapped up neatly and produced just enough questions of outcome.

A dark twisty read with a surprise ending that was worth hanging on for. For anyone who enjoys the suspense of authors such as Gillian Flynn or Peter Swanson.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐

Twisty psychological thriller...

Rebecca’s life is not going well… she is addicted to pain medication, has recently been fired from her well paying job, and is convinced her husband is cheating on her as well as stealing from her. But what does the husband have to say for himself...well that’s hard to tell because he’s a bit absent in the beginning.

Flashing back to when Rebecca and Paul first found one another...sure there were troubles even then, like a pesky current wife to get rid of, but what’s one divorce when these two are in love! Enter the police, a couple of missing women and we have ourselves quite the drama!

Pros: I did not guess the ending...probably because I really didn’t give this book too much thought.

Cons: Very slow moving plot with extremely unlikeable characters. I found the back and forth between before and after for the two main characters quite difficult to follow. A lot of alluding to events, but never outright saying anything. For me, The Woman Inside was an exercise in frustration. I did stick with it though, so that’s saying something.

YES or NO: It’s a NO - I gave 3 Stars because I saw some good things in this book...but ultimately it’s not one I would recommend.

Some may enjoy the suspense. I found the characters unpleasant. Overall: Meh.

Readers who are looking for a twisty, domestic suspense should look no farther than this first book from E.G. Scott. Paul and Rebecca have what seems to be a wonderful marriage, but after 20 years that perfection may only be skin deep. Both have their secrets and those secrets are slowly chipping away at their relationship. Then a sudden moment of violence sets them on a tailspin that seems sure to doom their marriage (among other things)!

I found this book to be quite difficult to put down. It's told from multiple perspectives and I love how this created a layered tale that I felt like I got to slowly unfold. It also meant I was always questioning what the narrator of the moment was telling me. Were they all telling the truth? Or lying? I honestly couldn't tell. The ultimate twist near the end of the story was probably not the most exciting one I've come upon in a thriller, but it also didn't feel unnatural so in the end I found the story fairly satisfying. I will be recommending this book and looking forward to more from Scott. Readers who enjoy the works of Sarah Pinborough and Greer Hendricks might want to give this one a try.

Lots of twists and turns but every character gets what they deserved. I liked the dog the best.

Unreliable narrator? Marriage falling apart? Secrets and lies kept from each other? Careers, lives, and relationships teetering on the brink after a promising, picture-perfect start? THE WOMAN INSIDE has these by the truckload and is an absolutely magnetic read.
