The feel-good book of the year: a delightful novel of friendship, community, and the way small acts of kindness can change your life, by the bestselling author of The Story of Arthur Truluv   Lucille Howard is getting on in years, but she stays busy. Thanks to the inspiration of her dearly departed friend Arthur Truluv, she has begun to teach baking classes, sharing the secrets to her delicious classic Southern yellow cake, the perfect pinwheel cookies, and other sweet essentials. Her classes have become so popular that she’s hired Iris, a new resident of Mason, Missouri, as an assistant. Iris doesn’t know how to bake but she needs to keep her mind off a big decision she sorely regrets. When a new family moves in next door and tragedy strikes, Lucille begins to look out for Lincoln, their son. Lincoln’s parents aren’t the only ones in town facing hard choices and uncertain futures. In these difficult times, the residents of Mason come together and find the true power of community—just when they need it the most. Are you losing faith in humanity? Has the current strife in our nation’s politics got you down? Well, NIGHT OF MIRACLES, sequel to 2017’s THE STORY OF ARTHUR TRULUV, may just be the antidote you’re looking for. Once again the story returns to the idyllic town of Mason, Missouri and the lives of some beloved characters from ARTHUR TRULUV (I recommend reading it first before MIRACLES). In addition, several new players are introduced - could there be future installments in this series? For fans of Fannie Flagg or Jan Karon, this uplifting tale is easily read in 1-3 sittings. Although I didn’t enjoy NIGHT OF MIRACLES as much as I did its predecessor, I still felt it was time well spent.

The follow up story to Arthur Truluv, its a quick enjoyable read , but not as captivating as some of her other offerings.

Berg uses her storytelling ability to tell a heart-warming story of people in a small Missouri town. It is hard not to get emotionally involved in the happenings which include both sadness and happiness. If there is a moral in the story, it is “Take care of one another. We are stronger together than we are alone.“

The characters in this book make you want the story to never end.

Lucille Howard, 88, is the glue that holds so many people together, though she'd never admit it. Each person she lets into her life is changed from the experience.

Another excellent book by Elizabeth Berg.

I didn't realize this is book 2 in the Arthur Truluv series. Can be read as a stand alone.

What a treat to spend more time with Lucille Howard! Her baked treats sound absolutely devine and I felt like I was right in her kitchen taking her classes. Loved meeting more of the residents of Mason, Missouri, and seeing their stories intertwine with Lucille's as well as Maddy and Nola's. A wonderful sequel to Arthur Truluv and a reminder of the beauty in each day as well as our friends and neighbors. Want a big dose of feelgood? Read this book!

“…real love is when the other person is your best friend and you shouldn’t have to work hard around them, it should be, like, more natural, and you just want to be with them even if you’re not doing anything.” - pp. 186 & 187

“…a carnival came to town one summer and they had a ride called the Whirligig. You sat in some wooden contraption that jerked you here, there, and everywhere. One minute you’d be going forward, the next backward or sideways or tilted over so far you thought you might fall out. It was never still and you had no idea what might come next. That’s life. You’re born, and you get a ride on the Whirligig.” - pp. 187 & 188
