The very laws of science are called into question when William Foster, a neuroscientist, seeks to bring back his dead family members. A car accident takes everyone he loves from him, but the synthetic biologist decides to put all of his scientific knowledge to the test when his grief overwhelms him. If Foster wants to be successful though, he'll have to take on not only scientific experimentation, but a government task force out to stop him.

It is a Sci-Fi touching on multiple ethic areas, mixed with a little bit of everything (love, family, tragedy, action, thriller, etc). The story itself is not bad. Don't just believe in other reviews. See for yourself. I enjoy watching it, rather than overthinking the morality or how unrealistic the story is.

This movie is about a great idea gone...horribly wrong.

The same can be said about the movie, itself. This is a "mad scientist" story, updated to "mad biotechnologist", (Keanu Reeves.) The decisions he makes are horrific. If the movie audience feels that way, how come the Reeves character doesn't? One of two answers is possible.

1. The character is totally amoral. Has a ethical "screw loose". That's too bad, because he's supposed to be the hero (nobody else in the movie qualifies, so, by process of elimination, he's it.
Or,
2. Reeves' acting is so wooden, or his director so inept that the star sleep-walks through situations that would have most of us frantic, angonized or sickened. Or all three. Not "zombie" Reeves! Question: If he doesn't feel anything, why should we?

In the bonus material, Director Jeff Nachmanoff, who hasn't had a real hit in 16 years ("Day After Tomorrow") says they wanted to deviate from the Frankenstein theme. They did. Stupidly. One idea too many, one that, oddly, actually reduces not only the suspense, but erases the moral/ethical dilemma Reeves' character is supposed to agonize his way through.

The word got out. Budget: $30 million. Box office: $9.3 million.

Previous thoughts of Keanu Reeves was a great actor, not so in this dumb scientific movie. His acting appeared stiff, uncertain.

Thanks to the Tacoma Public Library, I didn't waste good money to view this B-movie quality film. Rather absurd plot, boiler plate and stiff acting, marginal CGI. I almost stopped viewing a half-hour into it, but curiosity kept me watching. Best part was the surprise ending and who became head of the scientific company.

Corny and not believable. But, after The Matrix, who doesn't love Keannu Reeves?

In some ways fun (I was entertained by this movie because I like to watch cheesy movies sometimes.) However, this movie really is bad. Don't get it unless you feel like watching something stupid.
