Shelter of the Most High is Cossette's wonderful sequel to A Light on the Hill. Thankfully, at least two more books are planned in the series. This novel picks up several years after the first, and follows Eitan's journey as he reconciles past mistakes with a future he can only hope for. When a young woman arrives from a foreign land with her cousin, victims of unspeakable tragedies and horrors, Eitan's world is turned upside down. As the young woman – Sofia – struggles to reconcile the beliefs of this strange Hebrews and their one God with the gods of her childhood, she finds herself drawn to Eitan and his family. Yet evil has a way of disrupting peace, and the past has not yet been put to rest. When murderous threats arise from more than one direction, Eitan and Sofia must put their faith in the Lord in order to find their way to each other... and to the peace only He can provide. Cossette's skill at interweaving historical information and biblical events into a tale filled with romance, redemption, and faith, is incredible – and what makes this story so profound.

Shelter of the Most High by Connilyn Cossette is the second book in her Cities of Refuge series. Written from Sofea and Eitan’s points of view the story takes place in Kedesh, a city of refuge. Sofea, daughter of a pagan high priest, is from the island of Sicily. After she is kidnapped, she ends up in Canaan. Eitan, after suffering a childhood tragedy, has grown up in the city of Kedesh. When they meet will they be able to put the past behind them and move into a future blessed by Yahweh? I really enjoyed this book. It had everything you could want in a story; pirates, murder plots, romance, forgiveness and mercy. The way Darek loved Moriyah was very touching and sweet. The words of Eleazar, the High Priest, to Sofea were very powerful. It got me to thinking about how everything is ordained of God and nothing happens without His knowledge. We can rest in the Shelter of the Most High. I can’t wait for the next installment.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
