I wasn't impress by the book. I think all this upper / lower class standing, money/ no money, whores /wives in a smorgasbord of social "├ętude" is just as relevant today as my old four wheel roller skates from my youth. The only thing that saves this "Opera" is the music of Kurt Weill. With or without the text it's the songs that carry the punch of the Weimar Republic decadence. Brecht's text is stale compared to Weill's vibrant songs. They show a decadence with flair.
