A good, solid read. Better for younger teenagers, but still quite entertaining for older readers. The protagonist, Sophia, is quick-witted, resourceful and imperfect. A well-balanced, realistic character in an incredible setting, which enhances suspension of disbelief - delightful. At times, I found the novel reminiscent of "The Thirteenth Child" trilogy by Patricia C. Wrede. I really enjoyed "The Glass Sentence" and will be reading the sequel.
